How this site earns money - affiliate links, sponsored placements and recruiting referrals - and how each is labeled and kept apart from the rankings.

We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this site. Sponsored placements are labeled. The ranking order follows our published methodology and is not sold.
Affiliate and referral links
Some links to providers are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and then buy, sign up or request a service, the provider may pay us a commission or fee. This does not change the price you pay, and whether a provider has an affiliate program does not change its score or position.
Sponsored placements
Some providers pay for a placement. Paid placements carry a "Sponsored" or "Featured Partner" label and appear in a separate slot, visually set apart from the ranked list. A paid placement is never ranked first because it is paid; if a sponsor also appears in the ranked list, its position there comes from its score alone.
Recruiting partner referrals
When an operator asks to be connected with a recruiting partner, we may introduce them to a vetted direct-hire recruiting firm with which we have a commercial relationship, and that firm may compensate us for the referral. The partner is named when the introduction is offered. Operators are free to use any firm, including ones ranked on this site.
What payment does not buy
- A higher position in any ranking.
- Review or approval of our coverage before it is published.
- Removal of accurate criticism.
